Metal Shi-Li to strengthen your lungs
In the “Movements of Power” course, Sifu Thomas is teaching an advanced Chi Kung exercise to strengthen the lungs: Metal Shi Li.
The feedback was very positive.
For example, in one case, Metal Shi Li was instrumental in restoring full lung function. The lungs had been compromised by Covid-19 disease.
Although the pandemic is not as dangerous as it was in the early years, this particularly effective exercise is still of great importance, as the lungs are an essential element of our well-being.

Chi Kung Training via Zoom
When the Corona crisis began in March 2020, Sifu Thomas looked for ways to maintain the Chi Kung training for the local students. In mid-April, 2020, the first training via Zoom took place.
It turned out that teaching via Zoom is working surprisingly well – particularly for the Chi Kung practices of Zhan Zhuang and Ba Duan Jin.
Most people find it easier to train together in a group of like-minded people, rather than practicing alone. And it’s also more fun.
Based on these good experiences, we like to invite you to join the Foundations Chi Kung Course via Zoom.
In the 8+1 hours of this course, you will learn basic positions of Zhan Zhuang Chi Kung and the first 4 exercises of Ba Duan Jin.

Ba Duan Jin: The Eight Noble Exercises
In the Foundations Course, you’ll learn the first four of the Eight Brocade Exercises (Ba Duan Jin).
Similar to Zhan Zhuang (Standing like a Tree), also the Ba Duan Jin tradition goes back several centuries, and is very popular.
These exercises stretch and tone the body, and are very beneficial, especially for people with a sedentary lifestyle.
What might look simple on the outside is really quite profound when experienced.

Course Content
What you will learn
In the nine weeks of this course, you will learn all the basic positions of Zhan Zhuang Chi Kung and the first four exercises of Ba Duan Jin.
Some fundamental aspects of Chi Kung theory, which is rooted in Chinese Medicine, will also be covered.
Hands-on training practice is the focus of this course.
And you can watch some exclusive historical film footage that will give you a deep insight into our living tradition.
The highlights of the course are:
- The six fundamental Zhan Zhuang positions: Wu Chi + Five Elements
- The first four Ba Duan Jin exercises in their basic form
- The most common mistakes, and how to avoid them
- The three most important points for self-correction
- The energetic architecture of the body: Three Tan Tiens and three essential energy points
The course is held in English with translation into German.
After completing the course, you’ll have a core program to practice on your own and you’ll be ready for more advanced training.
As an accompanying book, we recommend the classic “The Way of Energy” by Master Lam.

Technical Requirements
We’re using Zoom Meetings for our online classes. Zoom meetings are private video conferences where all participants can see each other.
Therefore, in order to respect privacy rights, recording of the video conferences in any form (audio, video) is not allowed.
To participate in the course via Zoom, it is recommended to install the Zoom software on a smartphone, tablet, desktop or laptop beforehand. Registration with Zoom is not required.
Access to a reliable internet connection should be available.
After signing-up, you will receive the Zoom dial-in data which you need to participate in the weekly classes.
Language and Start Time
The course is held in English with translation into German.
Each lesson will take about 60 minutes.
Please expect some classes to take up to 75 minutes due to the film footage which will be shown after the training.
